ITC Serving Lawsuits in Taylor and Brownstown

International Transmission Company (“ITC”) is actively serving lawsuits in Taylor and Brownstown that employ eminent domain to expand the right to remove vegetation, among other things, surrounding pre-existing transmission lines.

I have been retained by seventeen households in Brownstown and Taylor to represent them in condemnation lawsuits filed by ITC.  This is the second phase of cases filed by ITC in these communities.  I previously represented over 25 households in similar eminent domain matters.

ITC seeks to impose easements allowing clear-cutting of all vegetation within either 75 or 85 feet of the centerlines of their existing transmission lines.  However, the easement comes with other impacts that might not be obvious to a lay person.  For example, ITC asserts that they have the right to use herbicides on properties without providing actual notice to the owners.  For a blog entry discussing this issue specifically, click here
